Juan Calvillo is the former news editor for the Long Beach Current at California State University, Long Beach. In the spring of 2025, he graduated with a Bachelor's in Journalism and Public Relations. While at CSULB, he worked alongside a news team of four additional editors to cover:

The Long Beach Current has been at the forefront at the local and CSU-wide level of news and is a multiple winner at various journalism conventions, including the 2024 Associated Collegiate Press awards.
Calvillo is a graduate of East Los Angeles College. While at ELAC he was part of the school's newspaper, Campus News. During the fall of 2020 he was the Editor-in-Chief and followed that up as Managing Editor in the spring of 2021.
One of Calvillo's focuses lies in providing the most accurate and up to date information in order to help people make intelligent decisions. Covering or editing stories that focus on undocumented news, art or feature stories is a passion of his.
